OHS Nurse/ Paramedic

This new exciting role is responsible for ensuring all legislative occupational health and safety requirements for their site are identified, covered by relevant documentation and routinely assessed.


Key responsibilities include:

Manage the review and finalisation of Safety Management System;

Ensure all internal and external occupational health, hygiene and safety reporting is completed;

Carry out regular workplace inspections and systems audits;

Assist with identification and implementation of improvement programs to address non-compliances;

Maintain accurate OH&S registers, databases and documents, ensuring they are regularly updated and reviewed;

Develop and perform site safety inductions and safety training modules;

Audit and monitor employees and contractor’s authorisations, licenses and competence to undertake tasks on site;

Ensure all health and safety incidents are reviewed and accident and incident investigations carried out where required;

Supervise and provide leadership to the Safety Advisor & Medic working on the alternate shift rotation;

Review and refine the Health & Safety Management System according to the schedule of works;

Assist in the development and implementation of a new comprehensive Health & Safety induction system;

Coordinate the roll out of the new electronic safety system, and utilise to improve reporting process for hazards and incidents, close out processes, and ensure statistics are collected for analysis and rectification/improvement works;

Identify trends in incidents and accidents, and assist in implementing continuous improvement measures;

Coordinate MSDS.com.au and audit compliance;

Complete health monitoring & assessment of the STP and potable water testing;

Assist with all outstanding occupational health monitoring (noise/organics/fit testing/air quality monitoring);
Provide assistance to the Emergency Response Team captains, Incident controller and teams in the areas of emergency response, training, planning and equipment.


Essentional Qualifications and Attributes:

Tertiary qualified in OH&S (minimum of Diploma in OHS or equivalent);
Cert V in Workplace Training and Assessment;
Certificate IV in Health Care (Ambulance) or Bachelor Degree qualified in Paramedicine;
High level of understanding of emergency incident coordination and response;
Current SA Drivers License;
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with people from culturally diverse backgrounds;
A team player, with an ability to work autonomously;
Good planning and organizational skills;
Good administration skills with experience reporting and documenting accidents and incidents;
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Excellent attention to detail;
