Medical Coordinator (GLNG)

Job Description
The Medical Services Coordinator will be responsible for the day to day interface with the Medical Services Subcontractor / Provider and shall assist and advise site supervision, management and other employees and subcontractors as required on all medical services and Occupational Health related matters. The Medical Services Coordinator will be responsible for knowing the scope of work of the Medical Services subcontract, managing Subcontractor compliance. and monitoring performance in relationship to stakeholder expectations. This includes maintaining current knowledge of Queensland and Australian Regulations as well as corporate standards and requirements as they pertain to occupational medicine and providing medical care from a clinic in Queensland Australia. He/s is also responsible for reviewing all Medical Services and Occupational Health data and information submitted by the Provider, and Subcontractors, validating invoices and producing weekly and monthly reports and attending customer and subcontractor meetings. The Medical Services Coordinator will work under the supervision of the Project's HSE Manager in the project Health, Safety and Environmental program.

Job Knowledge:
Extensive knowledge of Queensland and Australian Health and Safety laws and regulations and proficiency in applying them to the project. Queensland Work Cover, Dept of Workplace Health & Safety)
Develops and manages data systems on certifications for doctors and nurses, oversees that the medical records for employees are generated and maintained in conformance to requirements. Coordinates with the project emergency response team to establish and maintain action plans and emergency contact lists.
Administers medical services contracts (consulting physician contract, global emergency response contract, emergency care providers, emergency evacuation providers, and all subcontracts or TSC’s relating to medical services).
Develops and maintains or oversees their development by the medical provider the minimum (core process) medical services procedures and protocols.
Reviews/assesses project specific medical protocols and procedures to assure conformance with Bechtel Environmental, Safety, and Health Services (BESH) standard medical services protocols and procedures as well as compliance with Queensland and Australian requirements.
Determines appropriate level of professional licenses and certificates required to meet the level of competence as defined in the BESH job descriptions for project assignments. Performs assessments to assure compliance to required levels of competence.
Develops and implements a medical assessment process that complements the overall project assessment process. This process should address both pre and post mobilization and the availability, capability, quality, and effectiveness of medical services on new and existing projects.
Overviews review of BESH medical services with regard to providing medical services and equipment on a worldwide basis, with the goal of minimizing cost and maximizing quality of services through utilization of existing corporate agreements and standardization of processes.
Coordinates and interfaces with appropriate BESH and project management to assure consistent application and execution of all issues addressed in this position description.
Supports project development and execution by developing and maintaining medical services checklist for request for proposal and proposal development teams; by assembling and maintaining a “Medical Services Tool Kit” for mobilizing projects; and by developing and maintaining a medical services assessment plan and checklist.
Reviews and updates Project Medical Directives for approval by the physician.
Recommends the purchase of medical equipment and supplies/medications as outlined in core process.
Assists in planning emergency evacuation procedures.

Basic Qualifications:

Licensed as a Nurse Practitioner, Physicians Assistant, Registered Nurse, or Senior Paramedic in Australia
Extensive experience managing a clinic or administrating a medical care facility
Experience in Emergency/Trauma Room Intensive Care or Coronary Care facilities
Knowledge and experience in travel health and immunizations specific to project location
Proficient in occupational nursing and the handling of emergency situations
Knowledge of medical record keeping requirements in accordance with standards of professional nursing practice, applicable governmental regulations, and ES&H requirements
Knowledge of basic ES&H programs and measures for the prevention of illnesses and injuries
Proficiency and experience in interpreting and evaluating regulatory safety standards where applicable to health regulations
Experience in developing ES&H procedures for projects and facilities
Knowledge of and experience with data management systems and computer hardware/software
Previous experience working on construction projects with responsibility for supervision of medical professionals
Skilled in the handling of emergency situations and decision making
Knowledge of and experience in establishing and organizing first-aid and medical treatment facilities
Knowledge of and experience in administration of subcontracts
Knowledge of and experience in organizational and medical management and the principles and methodologies involved in medical practices
Skills in verbal and written communications
Immediate knowledge and use of Microsoft software applications
Demonstrates expertise in written and oral communication in English
Must have the right to work and remain in Australia
