Combat Paramedic

Work with highly qualified people and the latest technology in a challenging health care role that could take you almost anywhere in Australia or even overseas!
Combat Paramedics in the Army Reserve belong to the Royal Australian Army Medical Corps (RAAMC), providing independent pre-hospital emergency care, evacuation of casualties, resuscitation for the sick and wounded, and limited primary health care. They must be able to cope with conventional or unconventional injuries and illnesses in a variety of situations and environments, and they effectively
form the first line of defence for emergency response and evacuation on the front line.

All combat units include a medical element of members of the RAAMC so that health care and emergency medical care is available to soldiers from the point of battle back through to medical treatment facilities as their condition demands.

Pay and Benefits

All your pay in the Army Reserve is Tax Free, which means everything you earn goes straight in your pocket. You’ll also have free accommodation and food whenever you’re on exercise or away for training. Plus all your uniforms and equipment are free. Your civilian employer may be eligible for financial compensation if you volunteer to perform reserve duties during your civilian working hours.

Upon completion of your military training, you can expect to receive a tax-free daily rate starting at $128.37.

Your daily rates of pay will continue to increase based on your rank and the number of years of service completed in that rank. Your daily rates of pay may also increase following the completion of further training and the acquisition of additional qualifications.

Employment Location

The Army Reserve offers unique opportunities to travel within Australia and overseas. However in most cases you’ll find an Army Reserve unit close by in your local community which means you won’t have to go too far to experience Army life.

Entry Requirements

You must be at least 17 years of age and an Australian citizen, or hold Permanent Residency status. Additional age, medical and fitness guidelines may apply.

Education Requirements

You must have completed a Diploma of Paramedical Science (Ambulance) or higher and provide evidence of current employment and registration as a Paramedic in a State or Territory of Australia.
