Purpose of Position
The Research Officer, in collaboration with the Senior Staff Specialist and the Director of Research, will establish and implement a structured framework for the integration of evidence-based clinical and operational
policy decision-making within the Ambulance Service of NSW. Responsibilities will include the identification, critical appraisal, synthesis, and reporting of all levels of evidence relating to out-of-hospital care protocols, pharmacological issues, and the efficacy of current or proposed equipment or clinical interventions. The role may also include assisting in the establishment of a database of out-of-hospital systematic reviews.

Selection Criteria • Candidates need to be strong graduates from nursing, allied health, paramedic practice, health sciences or social sciences. Relevant track-records or post-graduate qualifications will be viewed advantageously.
• Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
• Excellent written communication skills and experience in the production of high quality written reports, publications and/or guidelines and protocols.
• Demonstrated experience in the techniques of evidence-based practice, including database searching, critical appraisal, and the construction of structured literature reviews.
• Ability to synthesise and concisely report large amounts of information in a manner that is constructive and meaningful to the intended audience.
• Demonstrated experience and ability to use a variety of computer software packages including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
• Sound organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
• An understanding of grievance procedures, conflict resolution, and the early identification of unacceptable workplace behaviours
