Intensive Care Paramedic - Simberi

St Barbara's assets include its Leonora Operations in Western Australia (Gwalia and King of the Hills mines and Gwalia processing plant), its Simberi mine in Papua New Guinea and the Gold Ridge mine in the Solomon Islands.
Role:
Reporting to the Health & Safety Superintendent, you will hold an integral role on site and be responsible for the provision of paramedic support and service at our Simberi Operations. The position is offered on Fly In / Fly Out 16 Days on 12 Days off roster, with a point of hire from Brisbane or Cairns.
Key responsibilities of the role will be to:
  • Provide a high standard of emergency patient care within the mine and local community in a remote environment
  • Maintain all site critical care equipment in a state of operational readiness inclusive of calibration and maintaining safe operating procedures
  • Facilitate compliance with statutory requirements and Company standards, policies and procedures
  • Promote continuous improvement in the support and service of medical response
  • Provide information and education on trauma management, triage, first aid and be a coach and mentor within the Simberi Emergency Response team
Experience and Qualifications Required:
  • Graduate Diploma in Intensive Care Paramedical Practice
  • A minimum of 5 years experience as a paramedic in the pre-hospital care/emergency environment with a minimum of 2 years full-time as a qualified Intensive Care Paramedic or equivalent;
  • Demonstrated familiarity and competency with Drug Therapy Protocols

In additional to qualifications and experience, the successful candidate will have:
  • The ability to react quickly and a demonstrated capacity to deliver under pressure
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact and build successful relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent team player with behaviour consistent with St Barbara's values
  • Australian citizen or permanent residency
  • Hold a current manual drivers licence
Highly desirable attributes for this role are:
  • Relevant experience in developing countries in a similar role working with communities
  • Emergency Response qualification within the mining industry such as Certificate III in Mine Rescue
