Paramedic/Occupational Health and Safety Officer

Independence Group invites applications from suitably qualified Paramedic/Occupational Health and Safety professionals with industry experience to join our Jaguar Operation. Reporting to the Occupational Health and Safety Manager on site, and working back to back with our other Paramedic/OHS Officer, this is a diverse and important role that will offer the successful applicant the kind of Company and role that they have been hoping to find.

This role, which encompasses a number of varied duties and responsibilities, includes:
Provision of paramedical services to the Jaguar operation, including rostered after-hours on-call duty;
Coordinating first aid and OHS training for all site employees;
The ongoing maintenance of first aid facilities and systems;
Contributing to the control of first aid and emergency services for mining, maintenance and processing activities;
Site based management and liaison for Workers Compensation claims and return to work strategies; and
Conducting safety audits and inspection of site activities to minimize workplace hazards.

To be successful in this role we are looking for people who have:
A Paramedic or Nursing Qualification (including State Registration);
a sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Legislation, including Mines Safety Inspection Act and Regulations and Workers Compensation Legislation;
Liaised with regulatory bodies, medical providers and Insurance companies, in relation to Workers Compensation and Safety issues;
A positive and demonstrated approach with effective return to work strategies;
A preference for working as part of a site based team in the continuous improvement and implementation of Safety Management Systems;
The relevant experience and practical approach to conduct this kind of role in a remote location;
Strong communication skills, across all levels of the business; and
Experience with Mine Rescue and Emergency Response procedures, particularly in an Underground environment (advantageous).
