Medic and Safety Officer

Employer:Crocodile Gold Australia Operations Pty Ltd
Location: Australia

This role will assist in the implementation and ongoing management of health and safety
initiatives within the Crocodile Gold Health and Safety Management System, and will effectively manage illness and injury and response tasks to Crocodile Gold NT sites, personnel and contractors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide initial response and treatment to sick and Injured.
  • Conduct regular workplace testing and monitoring as required through the Health and Safety Management System
  • Conduct site induction and additional training as required related to workplace health and safety
  • Maintain site first aid and emergency response facilities and resources in compliance with the Health and Safety Management System
  • Conduct workplace inspections as required through the Health and Safety Management System
  • Maintain and participate in Emergency Response activities as required
  • Assist with the implementation of workplace health and safety improvement programmes to address non compliances including risk and hazard identification, risk assessment and positive behaviour reinforcement.
  • Ensure all hazards and sources of effect or loss associated with specific work areas are identified, evaluated controlled and communicated in accordance with CGAO policies to achieve the highest possible health and safety standards.
  • Review of and update of Safety data Sheets and workplace procedures
  • Participate in the review of the Health and Safety Management System
  • Work with workplace and organisational personnel as a part of the Health and Safety Department to implement and manage site wide initiatives.
  • Organise and participate in audits and inspections
  • Organise and lead workplace health and safety meetings

Skills and Attributes:
  • Certificate IV in Healthcare or similar qualification
  • OH&S qualifications (Cert IV minimum) and or substantial relevant experience
  • Certificate II Fire and Emergency Operations desirable
  • Knowledge of safe handling of chemical
  • Operational experience in a health and safety role; preferably within the mining / heavy industry
  • Computer literate
  • Able to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
Applications are sought from current/permanent residents of the NT (specifically Darwin and its surrounds) or applicants who are willing to relocate to the NT.  This position will not be suitable for fly in fly out (FIFO) arrangements, and a relocation package will be available for exceptional interstate candidates.
