CareFlight is an Australian charitable organisation with over 25 years' experience in aeromedicine. With bases in NSW and the NT's Top End, our crews are dedicated to providing the highest standard of rapid response critical care to the ill and injured. Our specially trained doctors and nurses use helicopters, aeroplanes, medi-jets and road ambulances to bring a hospital level of care and transport to over 5,000 patients each year.

The role
We currently have an excellent opportunity for a part-time CME Flight Nurse.

Key responsibilities include:
delivering individualised high quality clinical care;
checking all retrieval equipment is available and on line;
coordinating the transit of the team, equipment and relatives if applicable;
maintaining CareFlight's Standard Operating Procedures and clinical treatment protocols;
undertaking the assessment and preparation/packaging of the patient for Medical Retrieval Consultant or Remote Medical Practitioner where appropriate should any problems or discrepancies appear or if there are any concerns;
coordinating the transition of patients between modes of transport and driving when required;
assisting with the load/unload of patients as part of the aeromedical crew;
cleaning and restocking equipment at the completion of the retrieval; and
acting as a resource for other crew involved in the retrieval environment.

About you
To be successful in this role you will possess:
registered nurse qualifications and be currently registered with AHPRA;
a minimum of four (4) years' nursing experience with evidence of three (3) years' Emergency/Critical Care experience;
current certification in ALS/ACLS or TNP/TNCC;
the physical ability to meet the challenges of aeromedical retrieval work;
highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
effective consultation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
effective time management, problem solving and decision making skills;
a demonstrated ability to operate in 'out of hospital' environments;
a current driver's licence and Working With Children's clearance (or ability to obtain); and
the ability to function effectively as a team member in a critical environment.

The following will also be highly regarded:
Critical Care qualifications;
previous experience working in the area of indigenous health; and qualifications, training or experience in aeromedical retrieval.
