Total remuneration package valued at $86,805 pa (including salary $73,995 pa to $78,315 pa, annual leave loading and employers contribution to superannuation). Salary packaging arrangements providing additional benefits are also available.
Prerequisites
• Applications can be received from across New South Wales, however the successful applicant will be permanently appointed to a Sector with a dedicated ECP roster.
• Any move as a result of this EOI will not be covered by the Transferred Employees Benefit.
• Applicants must be a paramedic with a current Certificate to Practice at a minimum clinical level of P1. Applicants must have completed a minimum 12 months work experience at the P1 level or higher by the closing date for applications and not undergoing a supported RPL Paramedic qualification.
• Applicants who have recently completed further training as follows: Intensive Care Paramedic, Motorcycle, Specialty Casualty Access Team, Special Operations Team, Operations Centre training must be able to demonstrate they can maintain the required relief periods associated with this and the Extended Care Paramedic training.
General Information
• Applicants must be available to commence the ECP Course in March 2016 for 10 weeks.
• Applications are considered an expression of interest and applicants are agreeing to report at the locations nominated by NSW Ambulance for the training period,
- Didactic, University Medical School Nepean Campus, Penrith (8 weeks).
- Clinical /Hospital placement, confirmed during didactic period (1 week).
- On road training/assessment at a designated ECP ambulance station (1 week unless extended).
• Applicants are required to report prior to the commencement training days/shifts and there is no travel time living away from home allowance entitlement or NSW Ambulance vehicle offered for travel.
• Applicants will be required to successfully complete the initial 10 weeks of clinical training and participate in ongoing clinical audit, research and a comprehensive continuing education program which may include attaining formal tertiary qualifications.
• On completion of the initial training, commitment to remain attached to nominated ECP position for a 24 month period to meet both qualifications requirements and return of service obligations.
• All Extended Care Paramedics must complete a minimum of 9 weeks on a designated ECP roster each subsequent year to retain competency and certification to practice.
All Extended Care Paramedics may be required to work in excess of this 9 week period on a designated ECP roster to meet the operational need.
• Full ECP qualification will be dependent on satisfactory completion of ongoing assessments, clinical mentoring and program educational requirements culminating at the end of a 36 week operational period.
• Applicants must receive satisfactory Conduct and Services Checks, sick leave review, must be physically/medically fit for full duties as of the closing date of applications, receiving clearances from Professional Standards Unit, Ambulance Education, Risk Management and Infection Control. The convening panel will contact the applicant’s relevant supervisors which may include contacting Sector, Zone or Station Officers for referee purposes. Please do not send referee reports.
Employment Conditions
• You will be employed under the Operational Ambulance Officers (State) Award.
• The award classification of the ECP role will be under Paramedic Specialist.
• Upon successful completion of the ECP training and commitment you will be required to operate in the ECP role on a rotational capacity or in vacancies as they arise.
• No accommodation payments or conditions are applicable to the position and no accommodation provision under the Award applies.
• The successful applicants may be required to perform on-call duties.
• There is a requirement to participate in continuing education sessions and any additional education as required as set out in the ECP Education framework to meet and maintain ECP qualification.
• In addition to ECP education requirements the successful applicant will be required to maintain a current certificate to practice and participate in the NSW Ambulance Performance Development Program.
• If a vehicle is provided as part of the requirements of the duties of the position, no private use of the vehicle is available.
• The successful applicant may be required to undertake duties at other centres.
