The Narrows Crossing Project is set to be the highest profile project (environmentally) to happen in Australia for some time. Scope of works includes installing 12km of high pressure gas pipeline which goes from the mainland at Gladstone to Curtis Island. It crosses the "narrows" which is a highly sensitive marine environment and home to dugongs and sea turtles species (amongst others) which are protected under the EPBC Act. The pipeline will link the extraction fields of the Surat basin to the LNG processing plant(s) and port facilities on Curtis Island. The environmental aspects involved include things like Acid Sulfate Soil Management, protected Flora and Fauna, dredging impacts to the marine environment to list a few.

Reporting to the HSSE Manager, we are seeking an experienced Paramedic to join the Safety department.

Key Accountabilities:
Promote Health safety and emergency preparedness / awareness to employees, subcontractors and all persons in the job vicinity.
Ensure that Healthy and safe working methods and practices are implemented and that appropriate Emergency plant and equipment is made available, properly operated and maintained, to enable incident and emergency response to be carried out when required.
Promptly advise management of any issues that could cause personal harm.
Report, investigate and implement corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of incidents or emergencies.
Ensure that all personnel are inducted and trained and aware of their roles and responsibilities relating to incident and emergency response.
Record & report all medical injury incidents, and aspects with potential to cause harm.
Provide feedback for HSSE Manager and advisors on Safety and Emergency Preparedness.

Competencies:
Experienced emergency medical technician - paramedic (EMT-P) and have advanced trauma stabilization and transport skills.
Background in Health & Safety within a construction environment
Experienced with rescue and extrication techniques and stabilization during extended transport by helicopter, fixed wing and/or ground ambulance.
Experience as a First Aid and CPR trainer.
A current license and current ACLS certification or equivalent.
Certificate of attendance at an ATLS course is highly desirable.
Defibrillation and CPR.
Evaluation and treatment of chest pain and coronary symptoms.
Intubation and airway management.
Chest film and EKG interpretation.
Injections and IV.
Fluid management.
Relevant trade qualification or experience advantageous.

This is a permanent position based in Gladstone, Camp accommodation is provided for Fly in Fly out (FIFO) or Living Away From Home Allowance (LAHFA) offered and relocation assistance. Our project is a 24/7 day operation, applicants must be flexible for Night Shift.
