The opportunity
We are looking for an Emergency Management Officer, based at our iron ore operation, West Angelas, to support the current Emergency Management team based on the principles of prevention, preparedness, response and recovery.
Located 110 kilometres west of Newman, West Angelas offers a variety of fly in fly out rosters. Operational since 2002, West Angelas was the first site to be incorporated into Rio Tinto's Mine of the Future™ program, testing autonomous trucks and autonomous drills. A recent expansion to the accommodation village, gym and recreational facilities on site offer exceptional living.

What the role entails
This position is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly ambitious individual to deal with large number of people on site. Working on a fly in fly out roster (7 days on, 7 nights on and 7 days off) and reporting to the Emergency Management Advisor, you will be:
- Assisting in developing and maintaining emergency management capability which complies with legislative requirements and site specific needs
- Implementing and maintaining the Emergency Risk Management program
- Ensuring that emergency management resources such as people, equipment, policies, procedures and plans meets the strategic needs of the business and site specific requirements
- Promoting emergency management practices proactively
- Fostering close relationships with both external and internal customers
- Promoting and adhering to a safe culture according to the Rio Tinto Safety standards
What you will need for this role
To succeed in this exciting and challenging role, you will have:
- A St. Johns Paramedic and a Fire Fighting certification
- A Certificate IV in Health
- A certification in Hazardous Material (HAZMAT), Vertical Rescue and Open Circuit Breathing Apparatus
- Significant experience working in an Emergency Management role on a remote mining site
A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment will be highly regarded.
