The UQ School of Medicine is a leading provider of medical education and medical research in Queensland. In addition to the MBBS Program (due to change to MD Program from 2015), the School of Medicine also offers a wide range of postgraduate programs, higher degrees and the new Bachelor of Paramedic Science Program.
The School is a diverse enterprise operating over multiple sites, with Queensland Health, Queensland Ambulance Service and private health service providers as major partners. Geographically, the School extends throughout Queensland with major sites in Brisbane, the outer metropolitan areas, and a number of rural and remote area facilities throughout the rest of the state as well as offshore clinical schools in New Orleans in the USA, and in Brunei, SE Asia.
The role
The School of Medicine is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Associate Lecturer who will be responsible for delivery of teaching into the School of Medicine's newly developed Paramedic Sciences program, as well as undertake scholarship related to teaching, service/engagement and other activities associated with the School. The incumbent will also contribute the in the development of course material with guidance from senior academic staff, undertake scholarship related to teaching including maintaining currency in the discipline, developing skills in all aspects of teaching practise and continuous improvement of curricula and teaching resources.
The person
Applicants must possess a qualification equivalent to Bachelor degree in Paramedic Science or Diploma of Paramedical Science. The appointee must have demonstrated teaching skills at vocational and undergraduate levels, expert knowledge in the area of Paramedic Science, as well as the ability to establish effective relationships and work collaboratively with colleagues to represent and promote paramedic science at a university and wider community level.
Remuneration
This is a part-time (0.5FTE - with some flexibility to adjust the fraction of this appointment), fixed term appointment for 12 months at Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range of $57,330.21 to $77,764.39 per annum pro rata, plus employer superannuation contributions of 9% (total package will be in the range $62,489.93 - $84,763.19 p.a. pro rata).
